After that, even upon reboot there will be bugs. It is a very professional piece of software but every installation I've had for years starts having weird unpredictable behavior and crashes after i use it for about 10 hours. That's something I thought it had, that I thought all office-type software should have, but I seem to be having crashes that don't trigger it, or I'm thinking of a different program with better fault protection. I'm also currently experiencing unpredictable behavior in the latest 2017 edition, for example the long-running but hard to isolate bug of symmetry working once when i click the mouse and then not again after that (for example if I undo and reclick the same vert, it may or may not work the second time).Īlso have lost a ton of work due to crashes now and then, and I'm constantly surprised that it doesn't seem to autosave and prompt me to auto-restore work lost in a crash. Hypershade has always and forever (like last 5 years at least) crashed some computers of mine and not others, no matter what I do. Just wanted to chime in to say that even though these threads seem to be getting no attention, people care and it is a common and long running problem for me. I also tried AMD's own render engine for Maya but that is even more unstable. Nothing special but it should run Maya well.

The annoying thing is that I can't really start a project since Maya will crash at least one time within the first 30 minutes.

These are just a few examples but there are a lot more. I use Arnold's basic material with my own textures but every small change can cause Maya to crash. Making changes to materials via attribute editor:

All planes set in place and I used UV based on camera and then unfold them for the correct size and that crashed Maya. Very unstable, I just started a seen with a few planes as walls for an interior scene. This works the first time when I start it but once I have a few materials set up Maya will simply crash the second I press the hypershade button. My Maya is constantly crashing with simple operations. The problem is that Maya is really unstable and simply not usable as it is right now. Hi, I have recently returned to Maya and started learning with the 2017 student version.
